Abstract

The present study describes the history and course of a patient with oesophago-bronchial fistula after caustic ingestion in childhood and continuously applied dilatation therapy. Surgically we performed partial oesophagectomy with covering layer plasty of the left main bronchus, taken from the muscularis propria layer of the resected oesophagus. Benign oesophago-bronchial fistula should be primarily treated by surgery.
