Abstract

The unsteady viscous flow over a shrinking permeable cylinder is investigated in a porous medium under magnetic force. The unsteady Navier-Stokes equations are reduced to ordinary differential equations using a similarity transformation. Numerical technique based on the Iterative Power Series (IPS) Method is used to solve the equations for some parameters namely suction parameter, the unsteadiness parameter, permeability parameter and magnetic parameter. The effects of these parameters are examined and presented graphically. A Skin friction co-efficient is also calculated and plotted. A numerical comparison of the present results with previous published results illustrates the validity and accuracy of the solutions.
