Embodiment Design and Detailed Design of a Pyramid Solar Still with an Automatic Feedwater System

Abstract

The solar still is a cheap and convenient device that provides potable water by desalinating saline water. However, during the evaporation process, the brine height decreases. Most of the previous designs are based on a manual feedwater system. Two inventions proposed an automatic feedwater system. However, these inventions required sufficient brine height in the solar still. Increasing the brine height decreases the solar still efficiency. The current paper proposes an automatic feedwater system that can maintain the brine height to its optimum value. Embodiment and detailed designs of this system that show the system architecture, dimensions, assembly, and material are presented. The proposed regulation system is detachable. Therefore, it can be attached to not only new solar still by also existing ones.
