Membrane-based separation methods, especially ultrafiltration, are potentially attractive for concentration and clarification of natural products. Commercially available polyethersulphone and regenerated cellulose membranes were examined for membrane processing of anthocyanins from blackcurrant pomace. A concentration enrichment of about five times is possible with moderate flux and recovery of the pigments.
