Abstract

Cyclopropane subunits occur in many natural products of secondary metabolism. Majority of cyclopropane-containing natural compounds have been isolated from plants, fungi, or microorganisms. This review focuses on the principal mechanisms of the biosynthesis and metabolism of cyclopropane-containing natural products and selected related compounds. Focus is on the formation, transformation, and degradation of the cyclopropane moiety itself.
